James Patrick Howard

James Patrick Howard, 79, died Friday, January 2, 2015, at Taylor House Hospice surrounded by his family. Jim was born September 9, 1935, to Isabelle and Thomas Albert Howard Sr. of Litchfield, Illinois.

Jim loved being a husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy was to provide for his family and to spend time with his loved ones. Jim loved Shamall (an Arabian horse) and short obituaries due to his frugality. His sense of humor will truly be missed. He is reunited with his late wife, Elizabeth Gail Howard, and child, Stacie Anne Howard. Jim’s life will continue to be celebrated by his beloved children: Rick (Nicole) Howard of Des Moines, IA, Jill (Kirby) Wilson of Naples, FL, and Heather (Ben) Howard-Knight of Polk City, IA; and four precious grandchildren: Ethan, Seth, Theo, and Blythe Knight.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday January 7, 2015, at Ankeny Presbyterian Church, 317 SE Trilein Drive, Ankeny, Iowa. A private burial will be held at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.
