Raymond Robert Edwards, Jr.

Raymond Robert Edwards Jr., 65, passed away January 2, 2015 at his home.

Raymond was born December 11, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa to Thresser (Johnson) and Raymond Edwards, Sr.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force and National Guard. He worked for many years at Mid-American Energy before his retirement in 2008. Raymond enjoyed fishing, bowling and dancing. He was known for his sense of humor. In later years he took great pride in his canine companion “E.J.”

Raymond is survived by his wife, Sandy; mother; Thresser; children; Tamara (Thomas), Gage (Jennifer), Aasha, Shana (Michael), Jessica and Justin; siblings, Rita, Derryll (Cindy), Tina and Tracy; nine grandchildren (with one more on the way); one great granddaughter.

He is proceeded in death by his father, Raymond Edwards, Sr.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Family will greet friends Wednesday starting at 11:00 a.m. until service time.

Memorial contributions may be directed toward the Des Moines Fellowship Church, 950 35th Street, Des Moines, in loving memory of Raymond.
