Wanda L. Miner, 88, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Wanda was born November 16, 1926 in Kellogg, Iowa, the daughter of John and Flossie (Reed) Youngkin. She was married and lived most of her life in the Des Moines area. Wanda was the owner and operator of Wanda’s Do Drop In for 35 years. The Do Drop was located at 409 3rd Street for 19 years until it burned down. After the fire, Wanda relocated the Do Drop to Delaware and East Euclid where she operated for the next 11 years. Wanda retired in 1989 and enjoyed playing pool and traveling.

Wanda had five children: Kenneth (Diana) Miner, Raymond Miner, Judy Grylls, Betty (Dave) Steigleder, and Larry (Laura) Miner. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews. Wanda was preceded in death by her son, Larry, parents and brothers, Elzy and Roy Youngkin.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, IA. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 5 at Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg, IA.
