Andrew G. Soroka

Andrew G. Soroka, 64, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 4 p.m. and the Rosary to follow Sunday at the church. Private family inurnment will be held at Glendale Cemetery.

Andy was born February 17, 1950 to Norman and Phyllis Soroka in Des Moines. He worked for Townsend Engineering/Marel Further Processing Inc. for 45 years. He anticipated retiring in February 2015.

He was the Commander of the Sons of the Legion Squad 419 in Dexter, Iowa. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, being on the lake and seeing his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Andy is survived by his children, Andrew D. Soroka, Carrie (Jamie) Mayes and Joshua Soroka; four grandchildren; siblings, Roxiane (Dan) Miller and Rick Soroka; and a host of extended relatives and friends.
