Oliver DeRuyscher, 82 passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center.
Oliver was born July 28, 1932 in Paw Paw, Michigan to Abraham and Mary DeRuyscher. He was proud of his service in the U.S. Army. Oliver had lived in Des Moines since 1958 and retired from Archer Daniels Midland, formerly Swift & Co. and A. E. Staley, in 1990, where he had been an engineer/machine operator for over 30 years. He was a member of Fort Des Moines Church of Christ and American Legion Post #659.
Oliver is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret; children, Carl DeRuyscher and Susan Keller; siblings, Marion Bletts and Bob DeRuyscher; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and a beloved daughter-in-law.
A memorial service for Oliver will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Fort Des Moines Church of Christ, 244 E. Army Post Road with inurnment scheduled for spring in Dixon, Illinois.

Marge and Family, My deepest condolences. I worked with Sue for 25 years and often she talked about her Dad, your family is in my prayers.

Marge & Family:
I read in the Register that Ollie had passed. How sad, especially for everyone on SW 12th needing the daily weather report! You were great neighbors for the 3 years we lived next door. We still talk about Ollie often. Christ's peace to you all.

Marge and family,
We are so sorry to hear about Ollie, We left Saturday morning the 27th and saw him on the front porch and waved good bye to him.
Kevin and I are in Florida with Susan and my sister in law called today and told us she saw the obituary in the paper.
Please know how sorry we are we couldn't be there and that we are praying for you and your family. We will definitely miss his presence.
We will see you in March when we get back.

I became friends with Oliver over the past almost year on dog walks by his house. He became a friend to me and my wife Debbie. I am glad I got to know him,.He was a special friend. I will miss him very much!!!!!! I realized this morning that it had been a few days since I ran into him but was hoping for the best.Finally no pain more pain Oliver. Love you and see you again someday!!!!!!
