Dorothy Nordmark, 80, passed away Monday, September 17, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Dorothy was born May 14, 1927 in Story City, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Gladys (Sinn) Kammin. Dorothy was a member of P.E.O. for 47 years, belonging to Chapter LQ in Ankeny. She avidly pursued duplicate bridge, obtaining her life masters. She filled her free time with her love of gardening, baking and traveling. But, above all, her family was her life and her greatest joy. She taught each and every one of us to live life to the fullest and to never give up.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Ron (Linda) Despotovich of Ankeny and their sons, Justin Despotovich of Grimes, and Christian Despotovich and Colby (Marissa) Despotovich of Ankeny; her daughter, Diane (Larry) Handley of Polk City and their daughters, Heather (Scott) Cherry and great-granddaughter, Vienna; Hayley Handley and Chelsey Handley, all of Ankeny; her son, Steven (Toni) Despotovich and their daughter, Samantha of Ankeny; and brother, DeWayne (Donna) Kammin of Story City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Despotovich and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to be distributed to the American Cancer Society and The Bridge Center in loving memory of Dorothy.
