Jeanne Chaffee

Jeanne Chaffee, 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 24, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born September 21, 1920 to Anna and Gus Anderson in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Jeanne was very athletic and played baseball, bowling and golf. She enjoyed baking and reading the Bible. Jeanne was very crafty. She loved quilting, crocheting and painting. During World War II, Jeanne worked at the defense plant to help support the war effort.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 68 years, Duane; children, Bonnie (Steven) Shepherd and Rod (Milissa) Chaffee; grandchildren, Alysia (Rex) Kepford and Ryan (Talia) Chaffee; great grandchildren, Cole, Chase, Carsen and Luna; great great grandson, Dash; and a host of family member and beloved friends.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Selmer Anderson and Arlen Anderson; and sister, Blanche Erickson.

Funeral Services will be held, 12:30 p.m. Monday December 29, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 161 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Friends may visit with family one hour prior to the service.
