Olivia Gomez

Olivia “Vive” Gomez, 65, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Olivia was born March 13, 1949 in Crystal City, Texas, the daughter of Dionicio Ochoa and Concepcion Flores. She loved talking to her best friend and cousin, Andrea Quijano. Olivia was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat, and hosting parties.

Olivia is survived by her husband, Andres Gomez Sr. and her children, Andres Gomez Jr., Adela Gomez (Ubaldo Palapa), Delores Gomez Torres (Juan), Felis Gomez (Amy), Nicolas Gomez, Patricio Macario Gomez and David P. Gomez. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andres Gomez III (Jayme), Lacey Gomez (Alfredo Morales), Nicole Gonzales (Sergio), Audrey Gomez, Angel Gomez, Kirsten Fees-Gomez, Mercedes Mullen-Gomez, Beatriz Zuniga, Sabino Zuniga Jr. (Mariah), Selena Zuniga Martinez (Luis), Ericka Palapa, Jorge P. Contreras, Juan Andres Torres, Erika A. Torres, Marisol Sanchez, Carlos Gomez, Zacarey Gomez, Samuel Gomez; and great-grandchildren, Dianna Gomez-Morales, Andres Gomez IV, Alfredo Morales, Audianna Gomez, Miguel Morales, Mariana Patino-Gomez, Mariadela Zuniga, Olivia Zuniga, Natalie Zuniga, Mia Isabella Martinez, Liliana Gomez, Nelly Gomez and David Gomez Jr. Surviving siblings include Simon Ochoa, Ismael Ochoa, Daniel Ochoa, Felis Ochoa Avila, Isabel Ochoa Rodriguez, Lydia Ochoa Ortiz and Selfia Ochoa; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Elena Ochoa Gomez, Martin Ochoa, Amelia Ochoa, Jaime Ochoa and Alfredo Ochoa.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014, also at the funeral home, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
