Barbara Ealey

Barbara A. Ealey, 64, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at her home. She was born August 19, 1950 in Des Moines to Raymond and Margaret Hevlin.

Barbara worked for Dahl’s for many years. She will be remembered as a very thoughtful and giving person with a contagious laugh and warm hugs. She enjoyed horseback riding, sprint car races, gardening, canning tomatoes, making pies and candies, quilting and cross stitching. Barbara also enjoyed kayaking the Current River in Missouri and spending time at the Tinnermeier Farm in Newton. She had a passion for working with flowers and went to flower arrangement school. She loved her dogs, Sasha and Chachi. Barbara was competitive by nature and enjoyed playing cards. More than anything, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Douglas (Julie) Darnell and Dennis (Lisa) Darnell; grandchildren, Delaney, Drew, Charlie and Frances; sister, Linda (John) Franklin; many cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Margaret Hevlin.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Living Faith Lutheran Church, 2180 NW 142nd Street in Clive followed by burial at Memorial Garden Cemetery in Newton, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
