Bernie was born November 8, 1923 in Ft Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Sioux City Central high school in 1941. She met her future husband, John, when she and June came to Des Moines for work and to attend a dance. A blind date was arranged between Bernie and John, and the rest was history. She and her husband retired from the US Postal Service after many years. Her children would like you to remember Bernie as she was on family camping trips to Springbrook Park near Guthrie Center. Bernie would be heading out to go fishing with a floppy hat on her head and a cigarette in her mouth.
