Thomas “Tommy” Dwight Meyers, 59, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2007 at his home in Indianola, Iowa. He was recovering from a long battle of health problems. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Tommy was born in Des Moines, Iowa on December 8, 1947 to George and Juanita Meyers. He grew up and spent his whole life in the Warren and Polk County areas. He had worked at Stone Container for 27 years and then Mid American Recycling upon his retirement for health reasons.
Survivors include his sister Nancy (Randy) Peck of Altoona, Iowa; his brother Lee Hamilton Meyers of Indianola; his nephew Travis (Heidi) Peck of Pleasant Hill; niece Lisa Peck of Altoona; great nephew T.J. Peck of Pleasant Hill; his beloved companion “Honey” Jeannette Porter and her whole family whom he loved and thought of them as his own as well as many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Juanita Meyers; his brother George (Ronnie) Meyers and niece Misty Dawn. Tommy was an avid fisherman, he always had a fishing story, especially of trips with his dad and mom going up north.
His pride and joy was his Dodge “Hemi” pick up truck – oh, how he loved it. His “Honey” was his life. His infectious smile, wonderful eyes and true friendship will be missed by all. Memorial contributions can be made to the family. I will miss you so much “Tommy”. Love, Your “Honey”
