Service Details
Lenora Helen Righi, 83, passed away on Monday December 1, 2014. Services will be held on Friday, December 5 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Cathedral, 607 High St. in Des Moines, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Lenora was born in Grundy County, IA to Arthur and Jensena Halbrook. Lenora graduated from Ankeny High School and later married Richard Righi on December 19, 1952.
She retired from US West after 40 plus years of service working in accounting.
During retirement she enjoyed family, friends, playing cards, and following college football and basketball. Lenora’s best gift to her family was being an exceptional grandmother, having an individual special bond with each child.
She is survived by her daughter, LeAnn (Charles) Phillips; sons, Doug (Linda) and Tim (Angie); grandchildren, Michael Terpstra, Stephanie Phillips, Luigi, Annie, Bailey, and Sydney Righi; and siblings, Marlene, Richard, Ronald, Janice, Linda and Bryce. Lenora was preceded in death by her husband; daughter in childhood, Deborah; parents; and sister, Maxine.

Our condolences to all of you in the loss of your beloved Mother, Mother-in-Law, and Grandmother. We share your pain in her departure. The pain is the LOVE we all have for her. She is now with your Dad and Grandpa, Richard. They had so much love and respect for each other in their 59 years together and deeply loved all of you and the joy you brought them. Treasure the memories of your Mother, Grandma, Father, and Grandpa.
We were so fortunate to have a beautiful sister, Lenora, who loved and cared about us as we were growing up. She was so generous with gifts and guidance and always there for us as we were growing up. She was a good example of the kind of person to be. Lenora and Richard included us in celebrations of birthdays, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas with their kids and grandkids. What wonderful memories.
Linda feels so fortunate to have been able to spend time each week the past 4 years with Lenora. We had a good time doing things together, going places, and talking.
Lenora will be remembered as a role model daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be remembered for her strong Catholic faith.
Lenora, rest in Heavenly Peace and be free of arthritic pain as your reunite with Richard and Debbie. We all LOVED you and cherish the memories of the life we shared with you.
