John “Jersey John” ”Papa John” Wanchanic passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 30, 2014. He was born on May 7, 1946 in Jersey City, NJ to William Habbit and Magdalene (Lusko).
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Small; children, John Thomas Wanchanic, AnnMarie Bandiero, Suzanne, Cheryl and Michael Wanchanic; grandchildren, Anthony, Ashley, Tommy, Michael, Victoria, Daniel, Joseph, Brandon, Brittany, BreAnna and John; and great-grandchildren, Anthony Jr., Myles, Cameron, Carter, Cadence and Santino.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 7601 Fleur Dr., Des Moines with visitation from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

It's almost A Year since you've gone away Dad, Time has not made it any easier being without you! I miss talking to you every day , I miss your smile and your Laugh but Most of all I miss My Daddy. Hardest part was not being able to say Good Bye... And not knowing "Why" . I hope you knew how much I loved you and that you were the best Daddy A daughter could have ever asked for. I hope you are happy in Heaven with Grandma and Poppops, until we meet again Daddy ..... I love you , forever your Panda, Annie

Im so sorry for your loss Cheryl, Annie, Michael, Suzanne, and Shirley. May John rest in eternal paradise, and remember now hes one of Gods many angels, who will guide & protect you all!! Hes no longer suffering or in any type of pain, I hope he gives you guys the strength to get thru this difficult time!!! Sending my condolences to the entire family?????
