Arnold Lorenz Terveen passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Indianola. Arnold was born on August 29, 1924 in Raymond, S.D. to Paula (Claussen) and George Terveen.

Arnold married Vera Montooth on February 28, 1947. He served his country proudly during WW II in the United States Air Corps. He made his career in education. He started as a teacher became a Principal and then Superintendent for 10 years. He also was self-employed for 40+ years in Crop Insurance sales. Arnold coached football, basketball and drama. He was willing to try anything. He loved technology and always stayed ahead of his time. He founded the Lutheran Church in Perry, Iowa. He will be remembered as a man of faith; a great storyteller; who loved people and most of all loved to laugh.

Arnold is survived by his loving wife, Vera; daughters, Karen Kisgen and Diane Kohler, siblings, Joy Hagen and LeRoy Terveen; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and his brother, LeLand.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. He will be laid to rest at the Castlewood Cemetery in Castlewood, S.D. Family will greet visitors two hours prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
