Service Details
Betty Helene Plym, 86, passed away November 27, 2014. Services will be held Monday, December 1, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation 2 hours prior. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Betty was born in Galesburg, IL on March 2, 1928 to Helen (Rasco) and Elmer Johnson. She married the love of her life, Wendell Plym and the couple raised seven children together. Besides being a wonderful mother, Betty was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed baking and attending yard sales.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Wendell; her children, Steve (Dawn) of West Des Moines, IA, Doug (Marvelle) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Gary (Marian) of Mankato, MN, Allan (Lou Anne) of Brighton, CO, Randy (Donna) of Des Moines, IA, David (Kim) of Omaha, NE, and Diane (Brian) Ayala of Des Moines, IA; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, LeRoy “Tom” Johnson; and great-grandson, Cory Plym.

We so loved having Betty and Wendell as our next door neighbors. Betty was such a terrific, funny lady. She always had a smile on her face. We so appreciated her. The Psalmist writes in Psalm 116: 15 saying, "Precious in the sight of the Lord are the death of His godly ones." Praying that God will comfort you as you move through the grieving process.
