Carl Risius

Carl F. Risius was born July 23, 1934 in Eagle City, Iowa to John and Bessie (Killian) Risius. He passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at the age of 80.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, also at the funeral home, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Carl retired from the Army after 20 years of service. He worked as a diesel mechanic for various places most of his adult life. He was a member of the American Legion Post 274 and was a Vietnam and Korean War veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary; children, Sandra (Tom), Russell (Karen), Joseph (Gloria), and Richard (Sue); grandchildren, Travis Ensley, Sara Fargo, and Ashley, Casey, Adam and Brandon Risius; four great-granddaughters; and brother, Mike Weideman (Ruth).

He was preceded in death by his parents and many siblings.
