Arlie Miller

Arlie L. Miller Sr., 72, died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Thursday, November 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd, Des Moines. Burial with military honors will take place at Laurel Hill Cemetery following the funeral service.

Arlie was born June 1, 1942 in Boone, Iowa to Floyd and Catherine Miller. He served in the U.S. Navy. Arlie married Cornella (Palmer) on December 6, 1964. He worked for Yellow Freight for 32 years and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union.

Arlie is survived by his wife of 49 years 11 months and 28 days, Cornella “Nell” Miller. He is also survived by his son, Arlie Miller Jr. and wife Carey and their children, Heather, K.C., Madeline, Claire and Griffen and their grandchildren, Rivers, Cali, Giovanni, Kaden and Conner and son, Todd Miller and his children, Jennifer, Todd and Raquel and his grandchildren, Ottis, Arien and one more grandson on the way. Surviving in-laws include, Raymond and Sue Palmer, Sandy and Gary Logan, Bobby Palmer and Don White.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Verna White, Dolores Gay (Gib) and Donna Gilchrist (Gene).
