Tony L. Parker

Tony L. Parker, 38, was born May 16, 1976 in Grand Island, Nebraska. He passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Tony lived life to its fullest! He enjoyed working on cars, going fishing, and taking care of his pets.

He is survived by his wife, Merryeann Sponseller; children, Christopher and Zachary Parker; adopted father, Mark Calkins; mother, Connie Jacobson; brothers, James, Ted and Paul Calkins; as well as other siblings, Lawrence Parker, Robin Wheeler, Debra Robbins, and Sarah Isaac; brother-in-law, John Sponseller; sisters-in-law, Victoria Sponseller and Leah Skallerup; mother-in-law, Ann Skallerup; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his adopted mother, Karen Calkins.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. SW in Altoona. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 3120 E. 24th Street, Des Moines.
