Roger Bocox, 63 passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Mercy Hospice-Johnston. Roger was born on July 10, 1951 in Waukegan, Illinois to Paul and Ruth (Gilibert) Bocox.
Roger spent most of his career as an engineer at RYCO Manufacturing, his passion however was flying and airplanes. He belonged to the EAA, the Experiential Aviation Association. Roger also enjoyed fishing, especially up north.
Roger met the love of his life, Donna in high school, and although they were high school sweet hearts they went down separate life paths until fate brought them together again and they were married on March 16, 2001.
Roger is survived by his loving wife Donna; sons, Joseph M. (Nikki) Bocox and Paul E. (Chris) Bocox; 3 grandchildren, Rochelle, Joey Jr. and Olivia; and brothers, Glen, William, and Robert.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 5:05 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, please be mindful that the family would like memorial contributions to go to the American Cancer Society in loving memory of Roger.

I met Roger when I moved to University Hall at Bradley in 1969...and ended up as roommates in the first semester/neighbors in the second. Our tastes in music varied enough that his persuasive speech was "Help Me Kill My Roommate"...although I think he only got a "C". He helped make the transition into college bearable, I hauled his MG back from southern IL.
I lost track of him--only infrequent contacts--and just found out he had passed (one of my ex-recruits has some equipment that I thought the EAA would be interested in).
He will be missed.

He was a talented and amazing person. He held several patents, Boy Scout leader, Little League coach, had a business, began his aviation career with radio controlled air planes. He will be missed.

Donna - please accept our dearest sympathies to you and your family at this time. Susan and I have had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy a number of DSI Holiday dinners at 801 with you and Roger and we will miss him dearly. His contagious smile, whit and humor were things I will also remember about him. We at DSI especially enjoyed his special birthday greetings for you!. God has him now and I'm sure Roger is enjoying some wonderful times in heaven!

Denny & I worked with Roger for many years. Roger always had such a kind heart, and was always willing to help anyone who needed it. Roger & I would have lunch every Friday at McDonalds. It was our end of the week lunch. We will miss Roger very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Roger, touched so many lives as well as mine. I have many stories of us traveling together for Ryko installing bus and truck wash systems. We worked together for nearly ten years and I always had a laugh with good old Roger. I will miss him and I am hoping your pain will subside and the fond memories will fill your hearts with joy knowing he loved each of you. Remember to keep looking up as he is up there buzzing some tower somewhere.

I remember Roger at so many of the EAA functions, always with a smile on his face and so friendly. I don't think he ever new a stranger....always so proud of Joe and Paul..he will be looking down on you always. Donna, I remember when you agreed to marry him, he talked to Es and I @ the EAA Christmas party through the whole dinner with a smile on his face. Heaven will have at least one trouble maker up there to greet him and go flying with. My thoughts and prayers are with you Donna, Joe & Paul

I worked with Roger Bocox at Ryko for 14 years and he was my direct manager for the majority of those years. He was always fair and loyal to people who worked for him. A very creative engineer and skilled at many things from electronics to aviation to home projects. He would always have some project he was working on and would love to share the details with you. Seeing him put everything he had into everything he did made me work that much harder when I as a young engineer working for him. My condolences to the Bocox family.

Roger and I worked together at Ryko for many years. He was very talented as an electronic designer and always added a unique insight as to how to address the myriad of customer issues that we faced. Roger was a terrific employee and was always a pleasure to work with. I always looked forward to Rogers big smile and can do attitude when I walked into his office. Sherry and I wish to extend our condolences to Donna and the Bocox family. Roger will be greatly missed by all of us.

I worked with Roger at Ryko for over 27 years. He had a special knowledge and skill for electrical and electronic design. We also shared a common love and passion for aviation but Roger's skill and passion was far greater than mine. He would never turndown the opportunity to help someone else with their aircraft project or loan them a tool or parts. Many of us have special memories of aviation events and especially Oshkosh shared with Roger. These will never be duplicated but the memories will live on. My best to Donna and the family.

We, at the Osceola Airport and the EAA Chapter 1143 will greatly miss Roger and his many talents and love for aviation. He was a wonderful friend and we love him. May God Bless him and his family and they will all be in our Prayers. Rest in Peace dear friend.

Roger was quick with a smile and shared his love of aviation with anyone that would listen. He was generous and shared his aeronautical construction expertise with anyone in need. My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

When I moved to Iowa and walked into the hanger in Osceola, you were the first person to greet me. You welcomed me and became a friend. We have shared several adventures over time, for which I will always be thankful. I will miss you my friend.
