Lucille E. Leonard

Lucille Leonard, 92, passed away on Friday, October 10th at Courtyard Estates in Bondurant, Iowa. She was born on January 28th, 1922 in Adel, Iowa to Oliver and Ethel (Long) Miller.

Lucille was a Des Moines resident for 70 years. Following many years of service, she retired from the US Postal Service. Family was her number one priority; she was always giving and caring.

Lucille is survived by her children: Caroline Leonard Cowles, Loretta Nadine Burton, Milton C. (Betty) Leonard, and Dolores F. (Charles) Morris all of Des Moines, Iowa. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Leonard in 1966, her parents, one sister, four brothers and grandson, Matthew Morris in 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with burial to follow immediately at Shibley’s Point Cemetery in Shibley, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home.
