Dolores E. Terwilleger

Dolores Ethel Terwilleger, 83, was born August 15, 1931 in Des Moines, the daughter of James Morl and Pearl (Briddle) Terwilleger. She passed away peacefully Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Union Park Health Services.

Dolores graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended Drake University. While in college, she began working for the Department of Human Services. She held numerous positions there including clerical work, and retired as a social worker in 1991.

Dolores was one of the original founders of the AFSCME Local 1868 AFLCIO in 1969. She was a 50+ year member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Dolores is survived by her cousins, Betty Wood, Kathleen Terwilleger and Billy Terwilleger. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Animal Lifeline of Iowa or Intrepid Hospice in loving memory of Dolores.
