Bessie M. Williams

Bessie M. Williams, 77, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at Serenity Point of Good Samaritan in Indianola, with her loving family beside her.

Bessie was born January 29, 1937 in Des Moines to Homer and Tina (Israel) Vance. Bessie was a 1955 graduate of East High School. She retired in 1997 from Peoples Bank where she had been an account specialist for 25 years. Bessie enjoyed traveling, camping, gambling, The Packers, Nascar, drag racing, hot air balloons, gardening and flowers. Most of all she enjoyed time with her family and friends.

Bessie is survived by her children, Deanna (Bruce) Logan, Taresa (John) Williams and Jim (Angie) Williams; brother, Rex “Butch” (Anna) Vance; six grandchildren, Kristine (Phil) Brown, Sara Williams, Lindsey Williams, Kelli Logan, Brianna Williams and Ryon Barnett; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Billy “Jim” Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the American Cancer Society in memory of Bessie.
