Marlys Coleman, 68, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Marlys was born August 18, 1946 in Waseca, MN to Vernie and Anna Anderson. Marlys was a proud factory worker, union member, and a loyal democrat. She was employed most recently at EMCO Enterprises in Des Moines. She enjoyed quilting and gardening and her cockatiels, Peanut and Skittles.

Marlys is survived by her daughter, Tina Coleman of Iowa City, IA; sisters, Lorraine Brase of Waseca, MN and Janice Shiflett of Bremerton, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Eleanor.

Services will be held Friday, September 26, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Family will begin greeting friends at 12:00 p.m. with funeral service to start at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines.
