Robert "Bob" Underwood

Robert M. Underwood, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery following the service.
Bob was born June 1, 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa. He started working in the home building business with his father at the age of 13 and has been building ever since. Bob was a lifelong member of the Home Builders Association, Shriner, President of Quality Built Homes, Inc., and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 38 years, Jeane Underwood; children, Susan (Steve) Krantz, Robin Lipich, and John Ruppe; grandchildren, Douglas (Julie) Krantz, Kathryn Krantz, and Nicholas Lipich; great-grandchildren, Abby and Brandon Krantz; and his best 4 legged friend, Sami Sue. Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Underwood; several siblings; and his parents, Sadie and Wayne Warren.

Susan, I was sorry to see your dad has passed away. No matter our ages it is hard to say good-bye. It did bring back some nice memories when I saw his name.

guy Bob was...you all were good customers at the Urbandale Cafe
where I had the pleasure to know
Bob a little better!! Always a good conversationalist & enjoyed
joking around with him!! He knew
everybody that was anybody it seemed!! He will be missed by all of us...

So sorry to see about Bob's passing just wanted you all to know how much he kept us on our toes and the wisdom I gained working with him. He will be missed and know we won't forget what he meant to everyone especially in the homebuilding industry. We will be making a contribution to The Animal Rescue League-a great cause.
