Michael "Murph" May

Michael Anthony May, 54, was born September 28, 1959 in Des Moines, the son of Lloyd and Beverly (Mentzer) May. He passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 13, 2014.
Murph enjoyed flying airplanes, especially taking his family on rides. He loved being outdoors and moments spent fishing. Murph loved animals, especially dogs, and was lovingly known as the “Dog Whisperer” amongst his family. He treasured his weekly gatherings with his military buddies and always left there with a smile on his face and happiness in his heart. Above all else, Murph cherished his time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.
Murph is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Gary Lee Loomis, Jr., Randall Scott (Breanna) Strong and Joshua (Amanda) West; daughter, Shelby Monaghay; grandchildren, Emily, Tatum, Kyle, Gracie, Gage, Kenzie, Bentley, Skyler, Alexis, Katelyn, Shelby, Zachary and one on the way; one great-grandchild on the way; mother, Bev May; siblings, Linda (Sid) Cox, Morris (Sue) May, Terry May, Nancy (Robert) May, Greg (Valerie) May, Carrie Boyd, Vickie May Jones, Toni May Geisler, John (Lori) May, Jim (April) May, Mindy (Bill) Blue and Jerry (Julie) Bates; brother-in-law, Bobby (Terry) West; sisters-in-law, Sandy May and Bonnie Sloan; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Preshia Paulding; other loving relatives and many special friends.
Murph was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd May; siblings, Ralph May, Floyd May and Gary May; his grandparents, Claude and Juanita Mentzer and Lyle Boyd and his mother-in-law, Vera Bown.
Memorial services will be 9 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Burial will follow at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery where military honors will be rendered.

So very sorry for your loss. Uncle Mike was such a caring man, and a fun person to be around. He always had a smile for everyone. Prayers and thoughts for all of you. May God give you strength and peace.
