Violetta Carlson

Violetta Carlson 100 passed away September 4th 2014 at Valley View Village Health Center. Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 8th 2014 at Unity Lutheran Church, 1450 E. 33rd Street in Des Moines. Visitation will be held one hour before the service with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Violetta was born September 17, 1913 in Sully, Iowa. She graduated from Sully High School, and Broadlands Hospital’s school of nursing. A registered nurse for 50 years, she worked at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, and Hilltop clinic. Violetta was a long time member of Unity Lutheran Church in Des Moines. She is survived by one sister, Ruby Myer of Des Moines; two children, Ron (Marilyn) Carlson of Altoona, and Judy (Don) Jensen of Des Moines; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; her parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Elscott; one brother; three sisters; and one grandchild, Larry Jensen.

The family would like to thank Valley View Village Health Center for the wonderful care she received during her stay. Also a big thanks to Unity Point Hospice they helped so much.
