Leon was a valued officer in my command and served willingly and proudly in all assignments. I looked forward to his comments and dialog when we would have drill. I am saddened by his passing and I pray for the Lord's comfort for his family and friends. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Gone to soon cousin!
I was suppose to go first!
You were my HERO!
From the colonist, who rebelled,
to the soldier of today,
My thanks, be to you,
I know not what else to say.
Since the words I do not have,
to give the tribute that is due,
So a simple heartfelt thanks,
sincerely I give to you.
Thanks to our American heroes,
whose devotion is second to none,
Whose courage and braveness alone
caused many battles to be won.
We have beaten the forces of evil
and carried our flag far and wide,
Because of our American Warriors,
our hearts are filled with pride,
Only because of you and the price
you willingly did pay,
Only because of you,
Old Glory still flies today!
I know I have another angel in heaven that is watching over all of us now!
Rest In Peace my cousin for you tour of duty is over!
I will greatly miss are talks and your laughter.
My prayers to his Mother and Father and to the Five Ducks
Love you

So sad to hear of Leon's passing. I have fond memories of him while serving as an instructor when he attended the Officer Candidate School, and later when he served with the 224th Engineer Battalion. Rest in peace, Soldier.

I was saddened to see Leon Wilson's obituary in the newspaper. I served with Leon in the Iowa Army National Guard. We were in the 224th Engineer Battalion - he in a Company C in Centerville, and I in Company B in Ottumwa. Somewhere I have a photograph of the two of us standing on top of an earthen berm that was constructed around the Ottumwa Water Plant to protect it from the flooding Des Moines Ricer in July 1993. I also traveled to Fort Riley, Kansas to serve as Brigade & Battalion Engineers during an exercise in around 1997. I've run into him a few times over the years, and have very fond memories of him. Very surprised to hear of his passing. He was a good man. RIP, Leon.

I met Leon just this summer - he has been a good friend of my friend Chris Wold for the past few years. I was impressed by his outgoing personality and fun spirit. He did live life to its fullest. His life was taken way too soon and all of his friends & family will miss his friendly smile and warm compassion he had towards those closest to him. He will be missed deeply. God Bless!

For Bonnie ~ a mother whose first born child & son went to God ahead of her & Leon's children who lost a father whose pride and love for his children was true and supreme. To Leon's brother & sisters and Leon Sr. who lost his first born & Cristin the mother of his children ~~ my sincere condolences~~. Leon Served his country with honor and will be held in good memory by so many. Now Leon is in the Realm of God with Mae, my Mother, JoAnne, Gram, Ricky & all. There is a profound & deeper grief when a child goes before the parent. My Mother Patricia (Patty Mae, Big Red) -Bonnie's big sister- also lost her first born - our beloved Edie Jo in a similar way as well. I believe the Grace of those in Heaven will bestow strength & solace on all who grieve, especially Bonnie. So many ~ Gone to soon... Donna.
