David Bloomquist
August 30, 2014
David Lawrence Bloomquist was born on June 15, 1978 the first born son of Ronald and Barbara Bloomquist. His ride came to an end on August 30, 2014.
David loved his family and friends and especially his nieces: goddaughter Makinley Jay or “Tink” (David’s name for her) and Haizley Mae. David’s friendships knew no boundaries.
David loved football, college and professional, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Pittsburgh Steeler’s were his favorite teams. He loved nearly all manner of every other sport: soccer, golf, and NASCAR.
Some of David’s favorites: his brother Brian’s smoked brisket, his mom Barb’s cherry cheesecake and his stepdad Tony’s holiday prime rib.
David was smart and funny, serious and silly. He loved music, movies, and reading. Time at “the land” (Uncle Lonnie’s) was most enjoyable for David, mowing the wetlands, riding the 4-wheeler, and being outdoors.
In the 10 years that David worked at Dooley’s Deli, he not only served many customers, he made many friends. David impacted many people with his sense of humor and friendliness but not as much as his smile.
David is survived by his broken hearted family: his mom, Barb (Bloomquist) Addy: his second dad, Tony Addy; his “bro”/best friend, Joe Webster; his brother Daniel Bloomquist; his brother and sister-in-law Brian and Megan Bloomquist; his niece and Goddaugher Makinley, and niece, Haizley; his “brother from another mother”, Eric and Ashley Addy.
David is preceded in death by his father, Ronald Bloomquist, grandparents, Max and Vivian Bloomquist, Oscar and Margareta Landuyt, and grandmother, Mary Jane Davidson.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family for benefit of David’s nieces.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Casual attire (jeans) is welcomed.

I knew Dave from working at Dooley's with my roommate, Audie Myrow. He was always very friendly when I went in there to eat. It will be difficult to know he will not be there. He will be missed.

I don't know where to begin- Dave had so many fine qualities. If I had to write in a job description what I was looking for in a person: loyalty, friendliness, punctual, team player, dependable, responsible, respectful, humorous, joy to be around and willing to go the extra mile to name a few- Dave covered all of those qualities. The people he touched at Dooley's is amazing. He was a rare find in our industry. I will miss him dearly.
My heart goes out to his family which he loved so much.

I knew Dave from him working 2 Dooley's. He always knew your name, he was kind and friendly. I know he will be missed by so many people. Every December he would ask me if I was making my Christmas cookies, I really liked him.....and I feel bad for his family, friends and his coworkers...

David, My little tow headed buddy. I had the privilege to watch you grow up to be the awesome guy you are. I have loved you every step of the way and I'm so sad that those days are over. Now, you will walk with us, every step of the way and be with us always. Your love and smile will always be a part of who we are. To the rest of my extended family.....I LOVE YOU and am praying for you! You know how special you all are to me and you know that I am ALWAYS here for you. Hugs, Hugs, and more Hugs to all of you. My heart aches and breaks for anyone that knew him but we had the privilege to call him friend.

Dave was a wonderful friend to me. We had so many things in common from football, to music and books. Dave was truly one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. His sense of humor and quick wit also made him special. He talked to me a lot about his nieces and how much he loved them. Dave will be missed. My deepest sypathy to his family.

Dave was a great man who always made you feel special. I have visited Dooleys many times a week over his 10 years and he always greeted me with a smile and always called me by name. He always took good care of me and many days even helped me decide what to order when I had no idea what I wanted. I enjoyed hearing him tell stories about his nieces and how much he enjoyed them. He was a proud uncle and enjoyed sharing stories and pictures about those precious girls. It is amazing what impact a person can have on you in only a short time each day. My condolences to his friends and family. Dave will truly be missed by all that knew him and encountered him each day.

The world has lost a fine young man in Dave. He always greated me morning or lunch with a smile and a "Hi Deb!" Always made me feel a welcome customer in today's world of not so friendly vendors. He knew my favorites on the food bar and would give me a heads up so I could get down there and get them. My prayers and heartfelt sympathy go to his family and to his family at Dooleys - you will be missed Dave, be at peace my friend.

It didn't take take long to become buddies with Dave! I saw him several times a week in his ten years at Dooley's. He remembered your name, what you order and always had a smile. I will miss joking with him and sharing our love of music! Thinking of his family during this time!

Dave always had a smile for me in the morning and could make my day with a fresh, hot biscuit from Dooley's. He was a great guy and I will miss him terribly! My thoughts and prayers to the family.
