Dolores "Lola" McDonald

Dolores McDonald (“Lola” Rodriquez), 71, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Dolores was born February 16, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to Mike and Carolina Rodriquez. She will be remembered as a supportive, loving person who cared for and was a mentor to many people. Dolores loved being surrounded by her family. She enjoyed scrapbooking, listening to music, cooking, cleaning, and taking care of her family. Dolores was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Dolores is survived by her daughter, Ramona Ellis (Dominic); son, Tim McDonald (Shannon); grandchildren, Carolina, Claudia, and Mary McDonald; step-children, Annie Hultz, Melissa McDonald, Brenda Chapman, Tammie McDonald, Ida McDonald, and Joshua McDonald; 18 step-grandchildren; and brother, Joseph Rodriquez.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tim McDonald; mother, Carol Rodriquez; and father, Mike Rodriquez.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Avenue, Des Moines, with Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, also at the church, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.

Mona, Tim and Family: So sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I have known Lola all my life and she was my daughter's first babysitter from 6 weeks to 1 1/2 years old. I always knew shew was in good hands. My you find comfort in all the wonderful memories you have. Prayers and thoughs are with you all.

Mona, Tim and family, I am so sorry about your mother's death. I have to say, she was my favorite cousin. I loved her like a sister. She was so loving and giving.
