I was a friend and classmate of Russell "Buster". I never called him Russell even though I knew that was his given name. Many good and fun memories but the one that stands out is a impromptu camp out at Matsell Bridge. Wedecided the main course that night would be one of (I believe was one of his mothers) chickens. We did borrow one and took it to camp where some very inexperienced cooks proceeded to clean & cook the chicken over the campfire. Well to make a long story short, the chicken was not done and we were left to feast on whatever else we had brought along IE: potato chips, cheetos, cookies. Needless to say we never tried that stunt again. The group consisted of Jack Scanlon, Dave Fairbanks, Buster & me. He may have mentioned this event, I know I will never forget. I will never forget Buster either, tough, quiet, and always a friend. May God be your comfort & peace in this time of loss.

I am from Buster's class of '60. I remember him as a sweet guy, quiet but always friendly! He was well liked by all of us. I haven't seen him for many years but always heard he was a real "family" kind of guy! My condolences to all of his family!!

One of the things I love and my children too for that matter, was getting Buster to tell us stories of growing up in Anamosa. I remember a story about a scavenger hunt for Christmas Trees. As I understand it there was a contest to see who could acquire the most trees. Apparently Mr & Mrs (Ma & Pa) Farrington were away for the weekend so their home was the collection site. As I have heard this told, someone out picking up trees spotted Mr & Mrs F returning. I guess there was a mad dash to get rid of the evidence. My mom comments once when this story was being retold that Mrs Farrington had asked her if she knew of any thing going on at her place a while back because she had been picking up pine needles for months. Nothing wrong with some good clean fun
