Gary George Davis, 74, passed away at home on Friday, August 8, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, August 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Windsor United Methodist Church, 6222 University Ave., Des Moines, IA.
Gary was born on August 31, 1939 in Fort Dodge, IA to Madge Marie (Pooler) and Roy Frederick Davis. He graduated from the University of Iowa and from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Sciences. He was a funeral director for Hamilton’s Funeral Home for 43 years. Gary was very active in his free time. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan, a stamp collector, a gardener, a regular patron of The Front Row, and a devoted member of Windsor United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Cambio Club, NW Optimist Club, the Des Moines Philatelie Society, and the Plate Numbers Collectors Society.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy; children, Kevin (Tami) Davis, Steven Davis, and Barb (Benton McClaran) Fatino; grandchildren, Sarah Fatino and Charles Bergmann; and a host of other family and best friends.

So very sorry to hear of Gary's passing. He was a dear friend. When I pastored in Des Moines, either he or Carlton helped all of our church families. Then I came to Hamilton's for 7 years and had the privilege of working with him everyday. I feel a heaviness knowing he is gone. I remember him taking Brady and me fishing on his days off. I wish distance was not an issue so we could come and join with others in honoring him. Our sympathy and prayer support to all of you as a family.

Judy and family. We will truly miss Gary and our wonderful times together.
