Robin Vos, 51, of Oskaloosa died of injuries from an automobile accident on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. She was born September 23, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. Robert and Mary Lou Dawson Howard. She earned her Home Health Aide certification from Indian Hills Community College. On August 6, 1988, she was united in marriage to Mark Vos at the Good News Chapel in Oskaloosa. Following their marriage, Robin stayed home to care for her family and home. She enjoyed fishing, collecting antiques, creating shadow boxes, cooking, mowing, and animals, especially dogs. She also enjoyed watching football on Sunday afternoon, especially when the Green Bay Packers were playing. Although Robin struggled and overcame many bumps in her road through life, she was always able to use them to make herself a better person. Robin had an enormous heart and a great love for her family, especially for her grandchildren.

Her family includes her husband, Mark Vos of Oskaloosa; three children, Ryan (Patsy) Vos of Oskaloosa, Raven (Dr. Matt) Cross of Ames, and Trevor Vos of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren, Lilly, Rylan, and Ryker Vos and Jaxon and Sophia Cross; two sisters, Rebecca (Mark) Dingman of Norwalk and Sue (Dan) Failor of Richardson, Texas; two brothers, Robert (Anita) Howard of Boone and Bill (Nikki) Howard of Granger; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joshua James; a sister, Debra Howard; and a niece, Rebecka Orr; and a cousin, Krisin Froah Wiese.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. in the Hamilton’s Funeral Home on Lyon Street in Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Rising Sun Cemetery at Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin on Monday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa and the family will be present Monday evening from 5-7 to greet friends and relatives. A second visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at Hamilton’s Funeral Home on Lyon Street in Des Moines. Memorials may be made to Hope Ministries.
