Wayne Halterman

Wayne Alan Halterman, 63, passed away at his home Wednesday, August 6, 2014.

Wayne was born October 31, 1950 in Des Moines to Ernest “Stormy” and Marie Halterman. He grew up in California and later returned to the Des Moines area. Wayne served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved animals, bow hunting and camping. Wayne was a Harley Davidson guy and enjoyed traveling. He will also be remembered for his extravagant story telling. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his dogs.

Wayne was a “do it yourselfer” and a natural when it came to construction. He had a knack for fixing things. Wayne retired in 2009 from the HVAC trade.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Rose (Charlie); many in-laws, nieces and nephews; and a great-niece. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Harriet.

A Visitation of Remembrance will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
