Charles “Scott” Bittick, 56, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior August 4, 2014. Scott was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Charles S. and Glenys Bittick on October 24, 1957. He was baptized at Wakonda Christian Church; sharing his faith through his musical talents while attending several churches in the Des Moines area. Scott graduated from Lincoln High School in 1976 and was a Drake University alumni. Scott worked for Wells Fargo as a Tech Support Specialist and he was a real “CPUGURU”. During the last year, Scott courageously battled melanoma throughout which his faith was unwavering.

In 1984 he married Gloria Sears and to that union were born Courtney Jean and Derek Levi. His children and grandchildren were the focus of his life and brought him much purpose and joy.

Scott loved music and taught himself to play both the six string and bass guitar. He had a rich bass voice, singing in swing choir in high school and many church choirs. He was an avid sports fan, cheering on his Green Bay Packers, Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals. Scott was also a proud Southsider. He enjoyed visiting and capturing the scenery in many of the area parks.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Courtney (Ben) Fox, his son Derek, his beloved grandchildren, Madilyn Jean and Callan Joel Fox; his mother, Glenys Bittick Lynch and stepfather, David Lynch; his brother Craig (Paula) Bittick, nephews, Stephen and Joseph; Uncles Don (Sondra) Richard and Dell (Mary) Richard; step-siblings, David (Ann) Lynch, Rick (Linda) Lynch and Jean (Steve) Christofferson. As well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles S. Bittick; his paternal grandparents, Mildred (Bittick) and Erle Laughead, and maternal grandparents Forrest and Ruth (Cook) Richard.

The family will receive guests from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 at Wakonda Christian Church, 3938 Fleur Dr. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his family for a memorial in his honor benefiting Maffitt Reservoir.
