Douglas Ince

Douglas H. Ince, 84, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at his home.

Doug was born December 20, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, son of Frank and Katherine Ince. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Doug retired from Stone Container in 1995, where he had been a machine operator for over 25 years. He enjoyed making wood crafts.

Doug is survived by his wife of 64 years, Thelma; daughters, Janice Ince, Kim Shaneybrook, Lisa (Robert Vranesh) Bonnell and Mindy (Patrick) McClard; sisters, Dorothy Hildreth, Betty Kline and Annalou Vyvial; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patty Lynch; and sister, Barbara Huff.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014 followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Pkwy in West Des Moines. Douglas will be laid to rest with military honors at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
