Ruth Stevens

Ruth Marie Albright Stevens was born February 6, 1928 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of William and Ruth (Goetz) Albright. She graduated from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA and proudly served her country in the US Army from August 1955 to January 1965. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Des Moines Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Des Moines Shrine #43 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Netaker Temple #11 Daughters of the Nile, and American Legion Auxiliary Highland Park Unit #374.

Ruth passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at Elim Nursing Home in Watertown, MN. She was 86 years old. She is survived by her son, Charles H. Stevens (Brenda); grandchildren, Cassandra, Charissa, Catherine, Corrine, Bernard, Brendan, and Cosette; and sister, Jane Ortmeyer (Howard). She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Herbert Stevens.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 12 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 800 East 12th Street, Des Moines, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
