Bonnie Jean Leslie

Bonnie Jean (Parker) Leslie was born September 6, 1926 in Shelby, Iowa, the daughter of Victor Ivan and Lillian (Durr) Parker. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved taking care of and helping to raise her grandchildren, each of whom were her treasures. Bonnie enjoyed gardening, canning, and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed living by Lake Ponderosa where many family memories were made, including riding snowmobiles.

Bonnie passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 2, 2014 while under the care of Taylor House Hospice. She was 87 years old.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Katherine Henning (Terry) of Maxwell; son, James Leslie of Des Moines; son-in-law, Mick Eblen of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Diana Thomas of Berwick.

She was preceded in death by her father, Victor Ivan Parker; mother, Lillian Parker; step-mother, Elsie Parker; husband, Harold James Leslie; daughter, Connie Eblen; three brothers; three sisters; and grandson, Dean Eblen.

Family will begin greeting friends at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with memorial service to start at 2:00 p.m. Burial of cremated remains at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Maxwell, Iowa, will follow the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Maxwell Christian Church, 201 Main Street, Maxwell, IA, 50161.
