Charles “Chuck” Dales, 85, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014. He was born February 19, 1929 to Logan David and Iola Faye Dales in Persia, Iowa. Chuck proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He worked in Law Enforcement as a Polk County Deputy Sheriff, Police Chief of Pleasant Hill and Police Chief of Centerville and retired as an Investigator for the State Of Iowa. He was a member of the Chief’s of Police Association, Painter’s Union, Altoona Masonic Lodge, the Za Ga Zig Shrine the American Legion and the Polk County Sheriff’s Posse. Chuck enjoyed fishing, camping and remodeling.

He is survived by his wife, Dee Dales:; his children, Mike (Linda) Dales, Barb Malone, Ken (Lois) Dales, Larry (Shelley) Dales; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 11 great- great- grandchildren ; his siblings, Lyle (Mayrene) Dales, Lloyd (Betty) Dales and Susan (Mark) Goslin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James , son-in-law, Walt Malone and daughter-in-law, Emily Dales

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 11:00 am at Grace Church, 4200 E. 25th Street in Des Moines. Burial with military honors will be at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA.
