Lawrence Dewey "LD" Thomas

Lawrence D. Thomas, 76, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Taylor House Hospice.  He was born June 21, 1938 to Glen and Carrie in Osceola, Iowa.
Lawrence began working in Glendive, Montana as a working Cowboy at a ranch during the summers when he was in high school.  After graduating from Mitchellville High School he joined the Navy where he served as a Cocksen.  He then worked as a Standard Oil Agent for LD Thomas Oil Company for 33 years until retirement.  LD enjoyed gardening, fishing, turkey and deer hunting, and camping.  He was very much a people person and enjoyed conversation with anyone.  He was a member of the VFW Post in Carlisle, and Amvets.
Lawrence is survived by his ex-wife, Marilyn Thomas; sons, Marty (Bonnie) Thomas, Ken (Lisa) Thomas; daughters, Jan (Dave) Ginapp, Sherry (Rodney) Dittmer; grandchildren, Sarah (David) Palmer, Jordan (Jacinda) Dittmer, Emily (Joe) Antelman, Luke Thomas, Kelsey Thomas, Katie Gambetta, Kenneth Ginapp, Jessica Eldred, and Brittney Reeves; great grandchildren, Timothy and Hazel Antelman, Abigail and Dayton Palmer, Jameson Dittmer, Seth Gambetta, Abigail and Mackenzie Eldred.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Carrie Thomas; brother, Robert Thomas; sister, Mildred Cunningham; nephew, Chris Cunningham and niece Missy Thomas. 
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014, at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue South, with burial at 12:30 p.m. at Franklin Township Cemetery near Santiago.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Lawrence Dewey Thomas.

I remember when I was a young teen and I would stay the weekend with the family. I sometimes would ride with Larry Early Sunday morning when he delivered newspapers in his pickup. He was always a very hard worker. My prayers go out to his family.

I knew larry when he came into the sunrise tap. we use to cook fried potatos and onions on the grill late at night. We had a great time. Our prayers go out to the family and friends.
