Jerry Haag

Jerry Lee Haag, 80, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Taylor House Hospice.
Jerry was born May 31, 1934 to Carl and Pauline (Kerr) Haag. Jerry was in business with his father, Carl and brother, Richard at The Hickory Hut Sausage Co. to which later he was sole proprietor. He was a Master Mason and member of Eastgate Masonic Lodge. He was a past Lake Marie Property Owners Association member in Mercer, Missouri for 41 years and a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Des Moines.
Jerry was joined in marriage to Ruth (Cook) on December 14, 1956 and they enjoyed 57 ½ wonderful years together. To this union, three children were born: Pam Haag, Randy (Karen) Haag, and Paulette Haag. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ryan Haag, Desiree Johnson, and Brent Farrell; great-grandchildren: Leah and Jack; siblings, Phyllis Watson and Clyde (Vivian) Haag; nieces, Lori and Melinda; and nephews, Dave and Jay.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Carl (Pauline) Haag and Richard Haag.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines with Masonic Service to begin at 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, also at the funeral home, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. In honor of Jerry, casual dress is requested.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church or UnityPoint Hospice Taylor House.

There are few people in this world that would bring a smile to my face no matter how bad it would seem. Jerry is one of those people. I am proud to have him as my uncle. Jerry will always be in my fondest memories and stories about family. My condolences to Ruth and everyone. He will be missed but never forgotten.
