Vivian Cohoon

Vivian “Vicki” Cohoon, 74, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with her Heavenly Father and her daughters, Joyce and Joann, Sunday, June 15, 2014, at her home in Mitchellville.

Vicki was born March 13, 1940 in Brainerd, Minnesota to George and Doris McDowell. She was the rock of her family. She was selfless and giving, taking care of her family and others through her nursing career. She enjoyed fishing and going to the casino, especially with her sister and best friend, Karen.

Vicki is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, John “Dick” Cohoon; daughters, Jackie Short and Jill (Randy) Atess; son-in-law, Kevin O’Neill; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Boatright; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her daughters, Joyce and Joann, she was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Jimmy, Ronnie, Albert, Shirley, and Judy.

According to Vicki’s wishes, cremation has occurred and there will be no services held at this time.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to UnityPoint Hospice and Mitchellville and Altoona Rescue for their help and countless acts of kindness over recent years.
