Dolores Ruth Hughes

Dolores Hughes, 88, was born July 8, 1925, to John and Lucy Dickey in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines on June 8, 2014.

Dolores was a longtime member at Highland Park Christian Church where she was a member of the Julia Group. She enjoyed Lawrence Welk music, reading, sewing, cooking shows, and playing violin.

Dolores is survived by her husband, Raymond Hughes; sons, Gregory (Brenda) Briggle of Hopkins, SC, and David Briggle of Patagonia, AZ; daughters, Barbara Briggle of Altoona, IA, and Alysia Cohee of Urbandale, IA; 6 beloved grandchildren, Benjamin Willson, Heidi Martin, Allison Roland, Matthew Briggle, Alexandria Cohee, and Jennifer Lee; 4 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Joan Shidler of Shreveport, LA, and Mary Lou (Harold) Simpson of Medford, OR; as well as her niece and nephews.

Services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Highland Park Christian Church, 4260 NW 6th Drive in Des Moines, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. and funeral at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
