Marie Wessel

Marie Wessel, 93, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Marie was born November 13, 1920 in Moline, Illinois. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed picnics and going to Prairie Meadows. Marie liked traveling, dancing, and westerns. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Kathy Evison, Anna Palmer, Rebecca Hale, and Patricia Walker; son, Joseph Wessel; step-children, Ted Wessel, Eugene Wessel, Connie Smith, and Grace Shepherd; 39 grandchildren; 93 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Maryann.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; step-sons, Robert Wessel and Raymond Wessel; and brother, Russel.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 9, also at the funeral home, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
