Phyllis Arlene Norris Kratzberg Sims Van Zandt

Phyllis Arlene Norris Kratzberg Sims Van Zandt, 80, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Union Park Health Services surrounded by her loving family.

Phyllis was born January 7, 1934 in Redding, Iowa to Guy and Lillie (Moler) Norris. She enjoyed being in her yard, tending her rose bushes and bird feeders. She loved to visit with people and always had a smile on her face. Phyllis liked keeping up with her soap operas and reading the tabloids. She was an amazing mom and a great cook and enjoyed doing puzzles, watching NASCAR, and was a Cardinals fan.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, George; children, Sandy Hauf, Douglas Kratzberg, Kenneth Sims, Steve (Kimberly) Sims, and Jennifer (Shane) Kennedy; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two step-daughters and two step-sons.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Miles; son, Michael Kratzberg; and eight siblings.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 9, also at the funeral home. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed toward Union Park Health Services in loving memory of Phyllis.
