Phyllis McGhee

Phyllis McGhee, 84, passed away June 4, 2014 at Mitchell Village Care Center. She was born December 5, 1929 in Princeton, Illinois. Phyllis worked for many years as a licensed practical nurse at Hill Haven Nursing Home until her retirement in 1989, and was a member of Altoona Regular Baptist Church.

Phyllis is survived by her sons, David (Emma) McGhee, Richard (Yvonna) McGhee, Dean (Linda) McGhee, and Daniel (Jane) McGhee; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, June Walker; and brothers, Dick (Sylvia) Knepper and Jim Knepper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George McGhee; her daughter-in-law, Linda (Hill) McGhee; and her granddaughter, Rachel McGhee.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Altoona Regular Baptist Church, 803 3rd Avenue SW in Altoona. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with the funeral service at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Altoona Cemetery.
