John Frank Shea

John Frank Shea, 74, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Ramsey Village in Des Moines.

John was born June 21, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio to Rosanne and John Lester Shea. He and his family lived in Saudi Arabia for 25 years while he worked as a computer consultant, retiring from Aramco. Most recently, John was employed locally with Principal Financial. John was a member of Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church in Altoona and Central Iowa Amputee Support Group. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, was an avid reader, and a world traveler. He loved being with his family, coaching his sons as a younger man, and enjoyed being on the water.

John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia; sons, Robert, Kevin (Stacy), and Brian; and brother, William. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Carol.

Services will be held at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Avenue South, Altoona on Thursday, June 5, 2014. Family will begin greeting friends at 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to start at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Altoona Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Hospice in appreciation of their compassionate care of John.
