Darlene Proudfit

Darlene M. Proudfit, 86, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014 at Prairie Hills Assisted Living.

Darlene was born August 17, 1927 in Des Moines to Harry and Ida May Hawbaker. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945. Darlene had been employed at Seavy and Floorshine in addition to Blueline Moving and Storage. She was a 50 year member of Park Avenue Presbyterian Church, a member of Northgate Chapter #417 OES, Grand Treasurer Emeritus of Eastern Star of Iowa and Past Grand Martha and had also been a member of the American Businesswoman Association.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gil Proudfit; children, Dave (Deloris Baker) Proudfit and Debra (Jerry) Burns; and her grandchildren, Laura Burns, Erica Nye and Buster Bonjour. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Leah Newbury; and her brothers, Donald and David Hawbaker.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Burial will take place at Brethren Cemetery in Dallas Center, Iowa.
