Madge Stillinger, 85, of Altoona passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Parkridge Specialty Care Center in Pleasant Hill. She was born April 3, 1929, to Cecil R Lunt and Myrtle Bell Lunt in Des Moines, Iowa.

She graduated from North High School in Des Moines. Madge spent 26 years working for the Southeast Polk School District. She briefly served as a bus driver, but spent most of her career as School Secretary at both Altoona Elementary and Centennial Elementary. Madge was very active in the Altoona Community. She was a Girl Scout Leader, she coached softball for the Altoona Girls Softball Association and she was a member of the Altoona Kitchen Band.

Madge was a very passionate golfer. She was a charter member of the women’s golf league at Terrace Hills Golf Course and she was also very actively involved with the ladies league at Toad Valley Golf Course. After retirement, Madge and her husband Max spent the winters playing golf in Mission, Texas. She achieved two Hole in Ones, one in Iowa and one in Texas.

Madge is survived by her son David (JoAnn) Fallis, daughter Julie Tollefson, seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Max, her daughter Debra Glover, her sister Deborah Swaim and her brother Robert Lunt.

Funeral Services will be held, 12:00pm, Wednesday, June 4 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the family. They will be used towards the placement of a memorial bench at the golf course in memory of Madge.
