Dorothy L. “Dot” Chatham, age 79, was born June 5, 1934, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of William and Ila (Mosher) Gazaway. She passed away surrounded by family on Friday, May 30, 2014.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2014 at New Hope Assembly of God Church, 4425 70th Street, Urbandale. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 2, also at the church. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa at a later date.
Dot is survived by her husband, Paul; sons, Jeff (Brenda) and Dean (Cher); daughter, Pam; grandchildren, Matt, Sam, Dan, Chad, and Samantha; and 12 great-grandhildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
Dot was a skilled musician and floral designer. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and was a great homemaker. She will be greatly missed.

Paul, Jeff, Dean and Pam and families: I pray that the God of all comfort will be with you now and the coming days. Dot was such a blessing and help to each of us. I gave you talent, passion, creativity, and an ear to listen for the need of the day. Dot, your sister-in-laws enjoyed their girl time with you, including going places, eating out, doing crafts, laughing, and having so much fun. There didn't seem to be a dull moment. You are missed for now, but we plan to join you soon!

NEVER has there be a more loving, elegant and God fearing lady than Aunt Dot!! I remember when I first came into the family, there used to be discussions on who would get to spend time with Aunt Dot when she came to Kansas City for a visit. (lol) Then, I finally met the classy lady whose smile was contagious and a personality that radiated Gods love. She made every niece and nephew feel they were her favorite. She used her talents as a ministry. If you had an event that was overwhelming, she would arrive and put the fun into catering, style to the event with her amazing flower arranging and decorating and an overall spirit of enjoyment for the special occasion. This is a great loss for our family and a great homecoming for her. And for Uncle Paul and family-- Psalm 34:18

My deepest sympathy to Paul and family. Dot was such a beautiful and sweet and loving person. She would always be willing to do anything she could to help people and serve her Lord and church. I know she is with Jesus and this is a comfort, but she will be miss by all of us. Love and prayers to you Paul and your wonderful family.
