Service Details

Kenneth Carl Balduchi was born December 5, 1919 in Spring Hill, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Inez Balduchi and grew up in the Des Moines area. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Ralph Talbot. Kenneth was a retired Master Plumber and worked alongside his brother, Clovis Balduchi. He was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 33 for more than 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling to many different places around the world. He looked forward to reunions with his shipmates across the US and insisted on driving to each one rather than flying. Kenneth remained independent and lived on his own. He looked forward to having coffee every morning with his sister, Virginia and her family. Kenneth enjoyed the companionship of his friend and neighbor, DeWayne Johnson. Ever optimistic, he renewed his driver’s license this past March for two years.

Kenneth passed away peacefully Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the age of 94. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, also at the funeral home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Kenneth is survived by his children, Ellen Kaldenberg, James (Helen) Balduchi, and Kent (Lisa) Balduchi; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews that provided him with companionship and support. He joins his parents; wife of 61 years, Bea; sons, Bill, Mark, and Jon Balduchi; brothers, Clovis and Francis; and sister, Rita who have preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Camp Sunnyside in memory of Kenneth.
